We sat down to discuss her future endeavors including being an Esthetician that paved the way for her Beauty Brand , Damani Cosmetics.


I love the way you use the word cosmetics line when you mention your beauty brand.
It sounds so professional, and accurate . I remembered you were an Esthetician, and realized you know all the right verbiage , fundamentals on skin types, and have background knowledge on how beauty products should perform .
Tamara Omaya :What led you to the evolution from Esthetician to beauty brand founder?
Chanel Mackie : My experience as an esthetician is what really led me into becoming a beauty brand founder. Working hands-on with clients, I saw what people actually needed — not just what looked good, but what performed and made them feel confident.
At the same time, I’ve always been a young entrepreneur, and I knew I wanted to build something of my own. I didn’t want to just exist under a name or be tied to someone else’s legacy . I wanted to create my own lane and something my audience could genuinely connect to.
Damani Cosmetics came from that combination of real industry knowledge and my drive to build something authentic. I wanted to go from servicing clients to creating products that could reach and impact people on a larger scale.
T.O: What made you want to create a new beauty brand , especially since there are so many beauty brands coming out left and right?
C.M : I started Damani Cosmetics because I wanted a brand that wasn’t just another label. I’ve seen plenty of brands, but I felt there wasn’t enough emphasis on authenticity and inclusivity. I didn’t want to create a brand that’s just for one group. I wanted a space where everyone, every shade, every background feels seen and represented.

T.O: How do you hope your consumer will feel when they wear your beauty products?
C.M : When someone wears Damani, I want them to feel empowered and proud of their individuality. It’s not about transforming yourself; it’s about highlighting what makes you uniquely you, while giving you that confidence boost.
T.O : What are your favorite wellness routines that you incorporate into your life?
C.M : I’m big on balance. My wellness routine is simple but intentional—hydration, daily skincare, meditation, and taking moments to slow down. Taking care of myself is just as important as taking care of my brand.


T.O What are some fun things we will be seeing from you and the brand in the near future?
C.M : Expect more shade-inclusive complexion products and exciting brand experiences—whether through pop-ups, events, or collabs. I’m focused on building a brand that truly resonates with my community, and this is just the beginning.
