For 36 years, Design Essentials has remained one of the most respected and recognizable names in textured hair care, continuing to build a lasting legacy within the beauty industry while staying deeply connected to the Black community.

Under the leadership of President Cornell McBride Jr., the company continues to thrive as a proudly family-run business, maintaining the vision, culture, and values that helped establish Design Essentials as a household name in beauty and professional hair care.

Known for creating products specifically designed for textured Black hair, Design Essentials has become a staple in salons, beauty supply stores, and major retailers nationwide including Target, Walmart, Ulta Beauty, and more. The brand’s continued success reflects both its commitment to quality products and its understanding of the unique needs of textured hair care consumers.

Beyond beauty, Design Essentials has also focused on creating meaningful community impact. The company has consistently supported education and opportunity through contributions to HBCUs, reinforcing its dedication to investing back into the Black community and future generations.

Most recently, Design Essentials served as a sponsor for the Atlanta Jazz Festival, one of the city’s most celebrated cultural events. President Cornell McBride Jr. attended the festival alongside Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, helping celebrate a weekend centered around music, culture, community, and economic empowerment.

The event brought together the Black community across Atlanta, featuring local businesses, vendors, live entertainment, and performances hosted at the Design Essentials stage. The festival created a space where culture and community could thrive together while spotlighting Black excellence across multiple industries.

As Design Essentials celebrates 36 years in business, the company continues to prove that longevity comes from more than products alone it comes from legacy, community, family leadership, and a continued commitment to uplifting the culture it serves.
