Don’t Sleep: Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum Is Worth The Splurge

Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum

When it comes to hair products I’m fairly frugal, but one product in particular has made me have a change of heart: Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum.

After dying my new extensions my favorite shade of jet black, I noticed that my Brazilian hair was a bit drier than normal. I did my best to deep condition it, co-wash it, and even slapped some Silicon Mix on it for hopes of a perfect blow-out that was voluminous and shiny. But still, my virgin tresses were a bit too dull-looking for my liking.

So in the words of Project Runway’s Tim Gunn I “make it work,” which meant slapping some vitamin E oil on my hair and calling it a day.

A few days after my hair dying incident I found myself randomly rummaging through the racks of my local TJ Maxx, known for having damn near anything and everything you could possibly imagine of from shoes to shower caddies, soap, and of course that notoriously low price aisle tucked in the corner of luxe beauty and hair care products. From Shiseido to Chi, the hidden gem is a frugalista’s haven. And after testing out every hand soap in sight to kill some time, I came across what my hair needed: a bottle of Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum.

Product Testing: Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum

Though I’d heard people rant about the hair elixir, I assumed it was just another product that wouldn’t work for my hair and would put yet another dent in my already tight budget. But the bright orange sticker that read $5.99 was undeniable, and I bought the 2 ounce bottle without hesitation.

After washing and blow-drying my hair, I dropped a dime-sized amount onto my hands and worked it lightly through my tresses. As I straightened each section of my hair, my tresses transformed from brittle to light, silky strands. Yes, Biosilk does get the job done.

While most products leave hair feeling heavy and stiff, Biosilk gave my hair a light, flowing finish. In addition, the product actually repairs split ends and protects hair from heat damage from styling tools.

Available at most convenient stores and speciality hair retailers, Biosilk’s Silk Therapy will cost you anywhere from $10 to $30, depending on size. And the amount of dollars you spend is complete worth it.
